intro!
im exploring yiddish because im ashkenazi jewish and want to connect with my people and culture in an authentic way. modern hebrew was never the language of the
jewish people and was just made up by misogynistic fascists :)
my partner and i want to speak yiddish in our home with our kids in the future,
along with their cultural languages of urdu and telugu!
(i'll be recording my adventures in those two lanaguages too!!!)

resources:
the main thing that i am using to learn is the Yiddish Book Center's new textbook In eynem: The New Yiddish Textbook, Vol I & II by Asya Vaisman Schulman, Jordan Brown and Mikhl Yashinsky. i'll also be using their accompanying online materials that you can access if you have the textbook. it was well worth the $115 for it, and you'll be supporting an excellent organization in preserving yiddish for future generations. learning yiddish is really important because there's such a huge volume of yiddish literature out there, and without knowing it we can't really engage with it!!!
more resources to come :) (fuck off duolingo you ai using piece of shit)
